Foundations (K-12)
The FOUNDATIONS program provides services that allow for parents to personally guide the education of their child with consultation from a professional Ontario Christian School consultant. Families who enroll are paired with a consultant who will:
•He the family choose curricula appropriate for their student’s talents and needs.
• Approve the curriculum, review the course outline, and confirm the quarterly grade awarded by the parent.
• Provide the family with assurance that they are teaching a balanced and complete curriculum.
• Certify to the State of California that there is the required evidence of course outlines and that there
is accountability to ensure the student is receiving a balanced and complete education.
• Conduct three formal consultations per year to review each student’s progress and modifications,
to answer questions, and to provide advice and support.
• Answer questions throughout the year by telephone or email.
• Guide interested families in the process to add traditional classes and extracurricular opportunities
with Ontario Christian School.
• Provide official student transcripts.
• Maintain transcripts and the student’s academic folder.
The consultations are important to each family’s homeschooling experience with Ontario Christian school. Through these consultations the family will receive the support and guidance they need to apply and participate fully in their child’s curriculum.
The first consultation occurs during the early summer. This consultation will focus on the student(s), determining the best grade level and general course of study. A primary element of the first consultation is curricula and textbook selection. Parents must use textbooks and curricula approved by Ontario Christian School.
The second consultation occurs toward the end of the first semester. This consultation focuses on evaluating and recording the student’s progress and discussion on possible modifications of the curriculum.
The third consultation occurs near the end of the school year. This consultation focuses on goal achievement and recording the student’s yearly progress. This evaluation will include the results of the student’s scores of an Ontario Christian School approved standardized test. This consultation will include planning for the next school year.
Standardized testing is required of all students. This is a valuable tool to assess the student’s academic progress and success. The testing results also provide a basis for curriculum modifications, and provide criteria to evaluate continued enrollment in Ontario Christian School ISP.
