Organization of Ontario Christian Schools |
Model Christian School Ontario Christian School continues to strive to be a model Christian school. The Model Christian School is a governance and organizational structure that provides an alternative to the traditional organizational structures in philosophy and vision, in governance, in curriculum and extracurricular provisions, and in operation and practices.
The Model Christian School strives to make the philosophy and vision provide the criteria by which decisions are made.
The Model Christian School provides a structure in which the Board of Directors determines the school’s direction and priorities, governs by written policies, and provides standards and measures for accountability.
The Model Christian School provides a process by which curriculum is an extension of the school’s philosophy and core principles.
The Model Christian School attempts to guide the formation of these policies and practices so they are living examples of the philosophy of the school.
The Association The Association owns the school. Rather than a parochial or private form of ownership, parents and friends of Christian education who are committed to promoting the mission and philosophy of the school own Ontario Christian School. The Association must approve the annual budget and tuition schedules, changes in constitution and by-laws, and the purchase or sale of land on behalf of the school as recommended by the board. The Association elects board members to represent Association.
Board of Directors The Board of Directors is composed of eleven persons elected by the Association to govern the school on their behalf. The board sets the vision, policies, and accountability standards for the school. The officers are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Vicar. Normally the Board meets each month.
Administration, Faculty, and Staff The administration and staff are essential in carrying out the mission of the school. The board takes care to establish policies requiring all employees to meet the following qualifications: profess Christ as Savior and Lord and maintain a positive Christian testimony, be active in attendance of a local Protestant Christian Church, enroll eligible children in Ontario Christian School in grades kindergarten through twelve, and have or be in progress of securing a current teaching or other appropriate professional certificate recognized by a State. The Academic Administrators and teachers of Bible in grades 7-12 must be active in attendance of church that adheres to the Reformed standards.
