(OCPA)
2007-2008
Welcome to Ontario Christian Schools and the beginning of another school year. If you are a parent of a child attending O.C. from pre-school through twelfth grade you are a member of OCPA. The Parents’ Association has a long history of supporting the students and staff. The funds raised during the year help pay for classroom supplies and special events throughout the school year, which are not covered in the school budget.
Positions for OCPA board are installed each July. Please call Kim Terpstra at 909-628-7665 for more information.
The following is what makes up our involvement with parents, students and staff:
Room Parent
Two parents are chosen at the beginning of each school year. You will receive information regarding your teacher (phone number, birthday, etc). You may be a room parent for only one child per year. You will help with class parties, field trips, etc. Also, as a room parent, you will help to set-up for other school functions such as Harvest Festival, teacher/staff appreciation luncheons and other special events. We encourage you to seek the help of other parents when needed thrsoughout the year.
If you have any questions, please call Roxanne Stache at 909-983-4644.
Harvest Festival
OCPA will host this year’s festival, Friday, October 19th, from 2 - 7 p.m., at the high school campus. This is a carnival-type event that has become a tradition at Ontario Christian Schools. We offer games, food and activities for all ages. We always need volunteers to help out.
For more information, please call Kim Terpstra at 909-628-7665.
Scrip
Scrip is our biggest fund-raiser and your opportunity to earn $$ toward your tuition. To learn more, go to Scrip.
Box Tops for Education
We collect box tops from all General Mills products. Each box top collected earns ten cents for O.C. You may turn these in at the front office, or just send them to school with your elementary child.
For more information, please call Sheila Sayegh at 909-982-6987.
Inkjet Recycling
Parents can collect cartridges from their places of employment, home computers from family and friends. This is a simple, easy and profitable guaranteed way of raising funds. Students should bring the cartridges to the school office and look for the box labeled “INKJET CARTRIDGES”. Note: We cannot accept cartridges that have been previously refilled.
For more information, please call Kathleen Haagsma at 909-947-0451.
Cell Phone Recycling
What a great way to eliminate those old cell phones cluttering up your drawers! The school will receive up to $15.00 per cell phone that is donated. The phones are refurbished and then donated to domestic organizations as well as third world countries. Place them in a plastic bag and deliver them to the school.
For more information, please call Kathleen Haagsma at 909-947-0451.
Hot Lunch
Our daily hot lunch program serves pre-school through eighth grade. Menus and order forms are distributed prior to the beginning of the month and must be returned promptly to ensure processing of all orders. An ala carte menu is available to fourth through eighth grade students. The cost of a prepaid lunch is $3.00 per lunch and checks are made to S&B Foods. Attach check with completed form and return to teacher. Late orders will be charged an additional $.50 per lunch. Returned check fee $25.00. If you child will be absent (illness, field trips, doctor’s appointment, etc.) on a prepaid lunch day call the S&B Foods and request credit for another day. You must call before 9:00 a.m. the morning of the absence or 24 hours in advance for planned events. The kitchen will be open for breakfast, lunch and snacks for breaks. The kitchen provides small meal items, i.e., breakfast burritos, sandwiches, cinnamon buns, cheese sticks, fries, juices, etc.
