Our Policy

State Licensed
The State of California Department of Social Services licenses Ontario Christian Preschool under Title 22. We are also under the umbrella of the Ontario Christian School Association Policies and Regulations set by the Ontario Christian Board of Directors.

Open Door Policy
We have an open door policy that enables parents to visit the school at any time.

Admission Policy
Children two years, six months through six years of age, and potty trained are eligible for preschool and our all day program. Although after January 1st, a child must be three years of age to enter at the mid-year school session. However chronological age is not the absolute criterion; many children are not ready to leave their parents even after the age of three. This will be determined at the initial interview and in the child's first weeks at the preschool. Each child admitted must be:

  1. Ready for the type of group experience the preschool has to offer.
  2. Able to benefit from the program offered. Children who are physically handicapped or emotionally disturbed shall not be accepted, unless it is determined that:
    There will be no adverse affect upon the other children, either through direct behavior of the child, or through requiring the staff time needed by other children.
    The facility is able to meet the individual needs of the child.
  3. From a family that is Christian or Catholic, attending church on a regular basis.

Registration Fee
Parents are required to pay a non-refundable fee at the time of enrollment. Parents are also required to give two weeks notice before withdrawing children.

First Day Procedure
All paperwork, copy of immunizations, Doctor and Pastor's forms must have been completed. The child needs to bring an extra set of clothes in a zip-lock bag, labeled, that includes-pants or shorts, shirt and underwear and socks. Turn in earthquake kits upon first day. Remember to bring a lunch. Please keep a fitted crib sheet and blanket in your child's tub for nap time. Sign in on the sign in sheet, time and FULL Signature each day. Put the monthly payment in the payment box in the classroom. Please mark all sweaters, jackets, napping sheets, lunch pails and toys with your child's name.

Discipline
A child will be treated with respect and love at all times. The child's self-esteem will be protected and honored in the discipline used. Discipline process:

  1. Redirection
  2. Time Out
  3. Notify Parents
  4. School Suspension

Extra Activities (Field Trips)
We ask that each parent sign a release slip permitting their child to be taken to places of interest at times that correspond with their studies. These trips require some parents to help with supervision. The trips may have an additional fee. The permission slips will go out approximately two weeks before the trip to be signed and paid for. The preschool asks that no siblings go along on the field trips.

Emergency Card
It is the parent's responsibility to inform the school as soon as possible if there are any changes on their child's emergency card. Only people authorized by the parents may pick up the children.

Lunch
Parents are required to bring a lunch from home or order from the Hot Lunch Program everyday. parents are encouraged to make sure the lunches will meet their child's nutritional needs. School will provide milk for lunch. Please do not include gum, candy, sodas or any unnecessary sweets. Breakfast is served before 7:25am if requested.

Snacks
Children will be given two nutritious snacks a day, morning and afternoon.

Rest Time
All children are encouraged to rest or have quiet time. Children should bring a fitted crib sheet and a child-sized blanket from home. Bedding should be left at school and labeled with the child's name. Bedding should be taken home at least once a week to be washed. Forgotten bedding will result in a $1.00 a day fee to provide bedding.

Sick Children
Do no send sick children to school. If the child has a fever, it must be gone 24 hours before returning to school. Children that become ill will be taken out of the classroom and the parents will be called to have the child picked up as soon as possible. Over the counter and prescribed medications may be given to the child if the parent fills out a medication sheet, the medication in in the original medication container and the correct dosage is followed. This procedure is required by the state.

Sign-In and Sign-Out
The person that drops off or picks up your child is required to sign the child in and out. The FULL signature and time is required.

Clothing
Children should be dressed in play clothes for fun and movement. Each child needs an extra set of play clothes in a labeled zip-lock bag. These clothes should be left at school. All clothes and other personal items should be clearly marked with the child's name. All sweaters and jackets need to be labeled.

Toys
Teachers will let you know when it is your child's "Share Day". Please do not send items from home except on these days. Do not send toys, coins, balls, or anything that will fit in a child's mouth. Guns or play weapons are not allowed at school at anytime. This is a state law and our school policy. Please label all toys or items with your child's name that comes to school. OC Preschool is not responsible for any lost or broken toys.

Tuition
Tuition is due and payable the first day of the month for the preschool program that the child attends.
Delinquent Accounts
All payments are due the first day of the month that your child attends preschool. Late fees do apply to all delinquent accounts. If you become delinquent in your payment, a letter will be sent from the Director requesting the payment along with the appropriate late payment fee. the fees are as follows: not paid by the 10th of the month- $5.00; by the 17th- $10.00, by the 30th or 31st- not enrolled for the following month. To re-enter you must pay the registration fee if an opening is available.

If you need to make special arrangements or a particularly difficult financial situation develops, we would be will to make individual arrangements if you will come and talk to the Director.

Tuition remains the same for the days preschool is closed on regular-posted holidays and days off. The tuition is set as a yearly budget and then broken down into monthly installments. These vacations are figured into the budget.

Late Pick-up Charges
Ontario Christian Preschool opens at 6:00AM for extended fulldayers. NO children will be admitted before that time. School closes promptly at 6:30PM for the extended fulldayers according to our clock. A late charge will be charged anytime after 6:30 PM at the rate of $5.00 per each five minutes or part thereof. Half day or Full day children arriving before or departing after their scheduled time will be charged the hourly rate of $5.00 or part thereof the hour.
