Teacher Website Guidelines - Ontario Christian School Association

One of the obligations each teacher at OC has is to set up and maintain a webpage on the OC domain for the purpose of informing students and parents about you, your classroom rules and regulations as well as assignments and anything else you would like to communicate. People all over the world will be able to view your website. Thus it is important to think carefully about what you would like to share. What is posted on your website says a lot about you and Ontario Christian. Parents, students, other teachers, and people outside of our community could easily browse through your site and it is important to keep the information posted up to date.

Make sure that any text you post has been proof read. Check spelling, grammar and ask others to review.
Protect the identities of students by only using first names.
If you are going to include graphics on your website please be sure you are not violating copyrights and if using someone else?s work that you have their permission.
If you will be including a student or staff member?s picture make sure that parent and/or guardian agrees that the photo may be used. Have the parents fill out the attached permission slip for final approval.
Graphics take up a lot of time to transmit so make sure that you use small images and use graphics conservatively.
Links to other sites need to be checked for accuracy. Links should be suitable for children and contain appropriate Christian content. Many websites include advertisements. Please make sure that linked sites do not endorse inappropriate advertisers.
