“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” ~Walt Disney

This week, we experienced that treasure, magic, and wonder, as our OC students and teachers celebrated their favorite book characters in our Young Author’s parade. What a blessing it was to see so many amazing lovable characters! Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Pinkalicious, Harry Potter, Curious George, and so many more.

Great job OC families on your creativity and your help in fostering a love for reading and writing in our precious young ones. Our teachers were amazing as well, getting in on the fun. From Pam Powell as the Hungry little Caterpillar, to Marlene DeGroot as Mr. Popper’s Penguins, our students LOVED seeing their teachers as their own favorite book characters. Events like these are the things that kids will always remember about their school days! Thank you to all of our OC families for helping make this a success. We praise God for you!

The fun isn’t over! Now that our students are finished writing their own winter wonderland stories, our High School Honors English classes will be receiving the top 3-6 papers from each class, and deciding on the winners for each grade level. We will have an awards ceremony on Friday, Feb 12th during chapel to announce the big winners and celebrate all of our students for their work over these past few weeks.

Congratulations to all of our Young Authors!
