Professional Biography

Before I began teaching, I was a deputy for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. After twelve years of being a deputy sheriff, I resigned so that I could be home to raise my three daughters. My teaching experience began in 2002. I worked as an instructional aide at Cross and Crown Lutheran School for two years. In addition to helping with core subjects in grades 1-4, I also taught elementary Spanish. In 2007, I began working at Ontario Christian. I worked with two of the fifth grade classes doing small group pullouts. In these groups, our focus was language arts and math. During this time, I also began tutoring Ontario Christian students in math. Through all of these teaching experiences, I fell in love with teaching and working with the students. I truly believe that this is what God has called me to do. Therefore, I decided to go back to school and pursue a teaching career. I attended Azusa Pacific University where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development, a single subject credential in math, and a Master’s in Education. I taught Spanish for one year at Ontario Christian and then moved into teaching 8th grade math.

We are very blessed to be a part of the Ontario Christian family.

Philosophical Biography

Working in a Christian school allows me the great opportunity to teach students about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I believe this is a blessing in and of itself. Having the ability to speak freely about God and His word throughout the day brings me a peace that words cannot describe. Being able to keep the Lord as my center in all that I do throughout the day is absolutely amazing. I pray that as I work with the students each day, that I can help them with their spiritual journey. I believe that God wants us to put our complete faith in him and trust that he will provide for us. Because of this belief, the following verse is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 I believe this verse with all my heart. I have personally taken many requests to the Lord and I know that it is because of my faith and His grace that I live a peaceful and happy life.
