Introducing the Career Series

Welcome to our inaugural Career Series! Starting on February 18, four special speakers will share their work and life experiences with our students, with the hope of encouraging them to dream and to live a life worthy of the calling they have received. Students, come with questions and an openness to possibilities! Parents, we invite you to participate in these talks as well. The Career Series will be held inside the George Groen Library during Thursday late start at 8 a.m. on Feb. 18, Feb. 25, March 3, and March 10.

30 minute presentation about career and training
15 minutes Q & A with students
8:45 dismissal

Speakers:

      Feb. 18: Kurt Schemper:

      Kurt Schemper is an Emmy winning producer with over 15 years experience in the television industry and currently a partner in the production company Infinity360. He graduated in 1997 from Trinity Christian College with majors in Communication Arts and Theology. Prior to joining Infinity360 he began his career at the sitcom powerhouse, Carsey-Werner, working in production management (That ‘70s Show, 3rd Rock From the Sun). In 2004 he began freelance producing independent films before embracing the frontlines of reality & documentary television. He has produced award-winning content for many networks, including 138 episodes of the mega-hit series Intervention. Because of his work on Intervention he received an Emmy award for outstanding reality series in 2009 and nominations from the Producers Guild of America in 2010 & 2011.

      Feb. 25: Sgt. Grayson Kline

      For over 24 years, Sgt. Grayson Kline has worked for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as a detective sergeant. He received his associate degree from Mount San Antonio College and bachelor’s degree from California State University, Long Beach. His assignments include custody deputy (Men’s Central Jail), patrol deputy (Industry Station), training officer (Industry Station), academy instructor, drivers training instructor, patrol sergeant, and detective sergeant.

      March 3: Blaine Stark ’07

      A graduate of Ontario Christian class of 2007, Blaine Stark works as a music producer, a multi-instrumentalist, and a songwriter. He has worked with Katy Perry, Switchfoot, Jon Foreman, Lea Michele and many more. He has appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, “Glee”, “The Ellen Show”, and “The X Factor.” He currently lives in Los Angeles.

      March 10: Meredith Hoekstra ’07

      Meredith Hoekstra graduated from Ontario Christian in 2007 and Northwestern College in 2011. She received her BSN in nursing with a California license. Currently she works at Loma Linda Hospital and lives in Redlands. She has coached high school girls basketball with Ms. Kristen Hoekstra. She is the third child of Tim and Judy Hoekstra.
